  1. Give the Azure Shared Image Gallery full support as a source for Host Pools within WVD

The Azure Shared Image Gallery (SIG) has two features not shared by current supported source image mechanisms, replication and versioning. Both are extremely useful for organisations who are updating many images often.

Images need versioning so it's easy to keep track of releases and roll back/forward between releases.

Organisations often have customers located in more than one place. Keeping these disparate locations' images in sync with each other means that companies can stop running tiresome robocopy scripts or manual tasks.

Many Companies are already using the SIG for images. They currently have to move these images out before integration with…

  2. Native Azure AD authentication without Domain

We will take 20 steps backwards by creating an ADDS or AD server just to in the end utilize our Azure AD authentication.

WVD should support native Azure AD join and authentication.

  3. Allow Azure AD guest users to login to WVD (Azure B2B)

Currently invited guest users from other Azure AD tenants cannot access WVD in the "inviting" AAD. We are forced to create new "twin" user accounts.

  4. enable true SSO

Logging into the portal and then again when connecting is a pain for users. Please enable true SSO.

  5. Allow Azure AD-joined Host into Host Pool

It would be beneficial to have the option to add both traditional domain-joined clients as well as Azure AD-joined devices into Windows Virtual Desktop. I think of a scenario with two separate host pools (one for each client type) where applications that may behave differently in these environments can be targeted to different groups of users.

  6. wvd auto scaling

add true autoscaling like vm scaleset which will add host in hostpool if all session hosts are full with sessions or cpu/ram is full and remove session host if its not used or dont have sessions. also consider minimum / max session host count for each hostpool while scaling up/down.

whatever WVD autoscaling runbook we have on github is actually auto shutdown/start during peak / non-peak hours which is not true auto scaling.

  7. Make WVD session controller service availble in the South Africa North DC.

Operating from South Africa I created a test VM on Windows Virtual Desktop and the response was not great considering that it was deployed it in South Africa North DC. The best RTT was measured at 226 ms whereby 150 ms or less is required for an acceptable experience. This was mainly due to the session controller service being managed from a US DC.

  8. Shadow functionality

In the contact center scenario, the agent supervisor often has to monitor the service and help the agents by viewing the agent's screen. This functionality could be available to a user with a profile as a supervisor and not to the machine admin.
The WVD could have a functionality like that where teh Supervisor type the agente ID and connect to agente session to help or whatch the screen.

  9. Teams is using System time in posts on WVD

When using either a WVD Desktop or App, Teams is using the System Time instead of the user's time zone when posting conversations. I can see the clock on a desktop and that matches my time zone. When I post a conversation, Teams is using the System Time of the server which is default UTC.

  10. Full client for Raspberry PI

Since Raspberry PI i such a cheap piece of hardware it would be perfect to set up as a thin client. The web client is a good alternative but I would love a solution where the user doesn't have to relate to the underlying OS on their Raspberry in any way, just a shortcut they click and then enter a full desktop from WVD
I know there is an idea for a linux client over at the remote desktop client uservoice, but that is from 2015 and have never been given attention from Microsoft so I guess it's a dead…

  11. Enforce MFA

    Hi Team,

    As per: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Windows-Virtual-Desktop/AAD-Reauthentication-MFA-enforcement/m-p/775217

Is there a way to enforce MFA each time a user connects to WVD?

We have 3rd party users who are to connect to our WVD environment and we need to enforce MFA.

Optionally can we block off the client and force users to use a HTML5 compatible browser?

We recommend Azure AD Conditional Access. Azure AD Conditional Access doesn’t have an “authenticate every single time” functionality, but they now have the sign-in frequency and browser persistence controls that should help: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/conditional-access/howto-conditional-access-session-lifetime.

Thank you for sharing your idea we continue watching incoming votes.

  12. Integrate published virtual machines into myapps.microsoft.com portal

Instead of providing another portal to end-users to connect to the published virtual clients please integrate them into the already existing myapps.microsoft.com portal.

  13. Make Windows 10 Multi-User available on-premises aka Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops

Although a great part of the IT industry moves towards some kind of public/private/hybrid cloud deployment, the greater part of the industry still functions the same like 10-20 years ago, where you have a simple Database->Server->Client application which won't transform itself into a native cloud application anytime soon. These customers still have the urge for a rather simple Microsoft based OS with win32 apps deployment. RDSH was a great solution for the last years (and it still is!), but honsestly what all the RDSH/Citrix admins ever wanted, was a real Multi-User OS which wasn't Server OS based. It would solve…

  14. Allow/prohibit data transfer in certain direction

As a bank, we have a concern of data leak when we allow user to use WVD to connect to on-prem server/services. We need to have the ability to:
    - Allow copying data from user's endpoint (laptop, PC) to WVD
    - Block copying data from user's endpoint (laptop, PC) to WVD
    - Allow copying data from WVD to user's endpoint (laptop, PC)
    - Block copying data from WVD to user's endpoint (laptop, PC)

Today if we allow or block, it will be bi-direction, which is not sufficient to address security risk: it could be either too loosely, or too strictly.

  15. USB Redirection for USB Tokens and other devices

The ability to connect USB devices such as USB tokens and other devices to the users remote session via the new Remote Desktop Client to WVD.

This will allow users to connect token licences etc. to software running in the WVD desktop sessions.

  16. Option to change Web RDP URL

Currently, the Web Client has an URL "https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com". Can we have an option to change this URL to our domain?

  17. Add support for passwordless solutions

With Microsoft's interest in going passwordless, and with the new public preview for FIDO2 key support, it would make sense to allow users to login to these virtual desktops and remote apps using the same passwordless solutions. Seems counterintuitive to test going passwordless, but then requiring a password using password hash sync for these vms.

  18. Add the ability to disable the Device Registration/Account PRT enrollment prompt on WVD endpoints or within the client

Allow for admins to disable the account registration prompt on WVD endpoints or client. You don't prompt on MacOS and Web Clients. Not all Windows users would like to perform account registration of their user account on their personal device. It might be confusing to them. Even if this provide them with a better experience. Please give us an option to remove the prompt.

For education users this is very confusing and annoying. Please add an option for disabling this within Windows Virtual Desktop client or administration portal. "Don't show the 'Use this account everywhere on your device' box".

    Perhaps…

  19. What are the centralized custom Image management solutions available for WVD

With the current situation, we have to take a snapshot and deploy new WVD session host servers whenever there is an application upgrade or you need to manually update all the session host servers or use other tools like SCCM or Invanti etc... but my question is there a way to achieve this without using any other tools because in Citrix we have the machine creation service inbuilt to handle this. So that we can push an application update to all session host servers simply updating the master image.

We have a large customer deployment around 100+ WVD session host…

  20. Native autoshutdown and power on policies for WVD

Using Azure DevTest labs as inspiration and the power off scheduler already available to Azure. I believe that a host pool should have a native power on and power off policy with a scheduler that can be mapped to a time zone, with the (optional) ability for desktop user to extend by 2 hours/skip the day of power management.
My story is that I have a pool of dedicated machines that I will be providing to developers. We have an expected hours of operation of 6am to 6pm Mon-Fri but there will be sometimes when someone needs to stay back…
